Happy Earth Day!!

So today is officially Earth day! If you do not know what Earth day it's a day to motivate people to go green and inform them on occuring environmental issues. It is kind of cool, because you have all these scholars uniting together and discussing issues that we need to be aware of like the extinction of the polar bears or air pollution.  You end up learning a lot from these conferences. I remember back in the days when I was in elementary school they held a conference in my school to inform us on the importance of recycling and how it effects the environment. I remember to this day the three R's which are reduce, reuse and recycle. Which can be applied to our time. As a matter of fact some big names in fashion have taken a part in this environmental movement and you can to!

Fashion is always changing and sometimes you buy a piece now that you later on you may no longer feel the need to keep. Well, now a days there are stores where you can make money from selling your used clothing, shoes and accessories. This is one way of recycling fashion. Another way to recycle, is  donating your clothes to a charity. A couple years ago I donated some clothes that I no longer felt the need to keep; to my church which gave my clothes the poor people in Africa. Those families that we donated the clothes , were so happy they even wrote a thank you letter thanking us for all the clothes we donated. I find it amazing how much other people living in these poorer areas of the country seem to value things we take for granted like a pair of sneakers or a jacket. There are so many charities out there that will gladly take your clothes and donate to other countries as well.  Also if you have any antiques or really expensive pieces like a high end designer watch you can sell it at a the pawn shop.

Spring

Spring is here and what better way to dress up than wearing the season's hottest pieces! Pleats, half moon bags, flat mules, Spanish inspired skirt, paperbag waist pants, and designer net tops are the must-have items of the season. Mix and match these pieces together or mix them with your own clothes. These pieces works with almost any style. Punk, preppy, classic, modern, glam, you name it!

Wedding

This month a lot of my friends are getting married or are engaged. Plus a lot of my readers and followers have been asking me what can they wear to a wedding. So I thought why not write a post on that ! Here are some of your questions answered:

Can I wear white to a wedding?

-Personally I do not recommend wearing white, it takes the attention away from the bride. Especially if you are a guest. Now, if you are the  sister of the bride try incorporating it with some other color like red. Do not go all white! Unless the bride is wearing red or some other color.

How do I dress for an Indian wedding?

-A couple days ago I was invited to a traditional Indian wedding from one of my friends and I myself am not Indian. I suggest wearing a formal outfit with lots of colors. You want to look nice. If you are trying to blend in then try going for a traditional sari or lengha. Don't forget to add jewelry! Jewelry is a must in Indian weddings!

How do I choose an outfit without upstaging the bride?

- By avoiding any outfit that is all white! For daytime weddings, go for pieces with bright colors. For nighttime weddings go for bolder darker colors like red, dark blue or purple. Don't forget to add accessories (accessories are a must)!

Can I wear black to a wedding?

-I personally do not like wearing black to weddings, kind of feels like I'm going to a funeral not a wedding. If you want to wear an all black outfit, add some color to it. You can add a pair of earrings, a necklace or a pair of sparkly stilettos. 

Can I wear print to a wedding?

-Sure, as long as its not too crazy or wild! Remember this is a formal event, not a day at fashion week!
